A Fine Arts graduate in Painting and Printmaking from the University of Costa Rica, Marcia Salas boasts a distinguished career with 21 solo and 90 collective exhibitions. Her artistic excellence has been recognized with over ten national awards, including the Aquileo J. Echeverría National Prize in Printmaking and the Francisco Amighetti Award. With international presence, she has received accolades in Japan and Italy, and is also a co-founder of the Costa Rican Association of Visual Artists.
Jimmy D Zambrana is Latin America’s only Gyotaku Master, a title he earned in Japan under Grand Master Mineo Yamamoto. His work is a sophisticated fusion of traditional Japanese techniques and Costa Rican soul, refined through intensive studies with global experts like Chris Dewees and Dwight Hwang. A specialist in traditional sumi ink and advanced Urauchi mounting, Jimmy balances technical precision with deep environmental reverence. Recognized for his innovation in nature printing, he will be a featured instructor at the 2026 Nature Printing Society Workshop.
His creativity explores memory and surroundings through an expressive style rich in texture and color. Noted for his printmaking background and series like Paisaje Herido, the artist ponders the friction between nature and man. Internationally acclaimed at events like Art Miami and the Cuenca Biennial, he has won national awards and ICE honors. His works are part of esteemed collections, such as the Museum of Costa Rican Art and the Central Bank.

Juan Castillo is a Costa Rican fine artist based in Turrialba, specializing in Naif art using acrylics. His work stems from cherished childhood memories at Hacienda Florencia, translating rural scenes of oxcarts and trains into vibrant, color-filled canvases. As a self-taught painter, Juan perfected his distinctive style following years of artistic exploration in San José. His creations, recognized both nationally and internationally, have been showcased in Israeli galleries and various competitions, establishing him as a pivotal figure in the visual documentation of Costa Rican rural life experiences.
My work explores the human experience and identity through color, gesture, and layered textures. Each piece is a visual reflection of emotions, memories, and the constant search for balance between chaos and harmony.
Fabio Herrera, a multifaceted artist born in Costa Rica, has developed a prolific career in painting, printmaking, and sculpture. His work explores abstraction through color, texture, and gesture, creating powerful compositions that evoke emotion and movement. Over the years, he has exhibited in numerous galleries and museums, becoming a key figure in contemporary Costa Rican art.
